The gang decided to take our first trip on a train and we thought what better of a way to get our feet wet than with a trip to Pisa. It was only about an hour trip and we could do it in a day. First, we needed to purchase the ticket. We actually handled ourselves in a fairly non-touristic fashion by avoiding the lines and buying the tickets at a self-service machine. Then we needed to find out what train we were going to be taking. This was somewhat of an issue but at the info desk, the issue was resolved. Before we could legally take the train, we needed to validate the ticket. Then we were off. The foreign city didn't seem so foreign. It felt like we just got off somewhere else in Florence. The streets were the same and it has the same river (fiume) the Arno in both cities.

We walked for around 30 minutes taking the typical tourist photos of ourselves before spotting the leaning tower peeking out behind an oddly placed palm tree. Upon getting up to the attraction, I noticed it was definitely not as big as I had imagined. It was actually quite small. We gathered around and took all of the stereotypical photos of holding up and pushing over the tower. I did have a piece of pizza in Pisa!

Cheers everyone… Until next time!

Ladies and gentlemen,

There has been a huge misunderstanding between myself and Verizon Wireless! Not only did I have face-to-face conversations with employees regarding my trip to Europe and the proper phone to have, but I actually changed my plan over the phone with them in Philadelphia. Then, to my surprise, when I arrived in Italy I had no service. Apparently the new Android phones (Droid and Droid Eris) are not global phones. What is the point of having all of the traveling accessories built into the phone?

Needless to say, I have finally found a way to connect to the internet and I am now researching ways to be able to communicate with you guys. I will be posting some pics and vids hopefully soon.

Ciao!
